Idaho Energy Assurance Project

The Department of Energy provided funding to complete the Idaho Energy Assurance Plan, intra-state and inter-state trainings, and a process for tracking supply disruptions. According to the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), this project can help improve "planning and responding quickly and effectively to energy emergencies, enhancing the resiliency of our response capability, reductions in the risk and vulnerability of critical energy infrastructure, and investments in the resiliency of the energy infrastructure" (State Energy Assurance Guidelines, p. 2).

The Idaho Energy Assurance Plan is a supporting document referenced in the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security's Emergency Operations Plan ESF-12. The Idaho Emergency Operations Plan "is an all-discipline, all-hazards plan that establishes a single, comprehensive framework for the management of domestic incidents and provides the structure and mechanisms for the coordination of State support to State, local, and tribal incident managers and for the exercising direct State authorities and responsibilities" (Idaho Emergency Operations Plan, p. vii). The Idaho Emergency Operations Plan is currently being updated.
